Why so many expectant moms in Calgary trust Robyn at Bump Prenatal & Postpartum Wellness

Bump is for moms looking for natural, holistic relief from pregnancy aches and pains

Bump Prenatal & Postpartum Wellness was founded by me, Robyn Farmer, a massage therapist, manual osteopathic therapist, and mom to two great kids. I've dedicated my professional career to helping mamas thrive!

At Bump I believe that when a mom is getting the care that her body needs, she can give her very best to her babies, her people and the world! (Can you tell I'm a big fans of moms)?

I have over twenty years of experience as a registered massage therapist, as well as extensive training in prenatal and postpartum work. I'm a Prenatal & Postpartum Corrective Exercise Specialist, and have advanced training in kinesiotaping for pregnancy and postpartum conditions.

I'm also an infant massage instructor, and became a manual osteopathic therapist in 2021.

How soon after I deliver can I come in for treatment?

This answer is a little bit different for everyone. Typically the earliest I see moms post delivery is at 6 weeks postpartum, however I like to say that the best time is whenever it feels manageable and right for you. Of course there are some additional considerations for those patients who have had c-sections or other interventions. If you aren't sure, give me a call and we can chat!

How is prenatal massage different from regular massage?
What can I expect?

At Bump I like to make sure that moms are completely comfortable and supported. That begins with pre-formed foam pregnancy cushions. Patients can lay face down on these cushions up until approximately 22 weeks gestation. After 22 weeks I can re-configure these cushions into an equally blissful side-lying position. The massage table is custom made to be extremely sturdy and even semi-reclines, allowing patients to be reclined to a degree that is comfortable for them when laying face up, rather than being forced to lay flat. Prenatal massage also involves some additional bolstering and other details to make it very safe, which I take care of for each patient. I also use a professional massage lotion, which is unscented, hypoallergenic, paraben and mineral oil free, and best of all, leaves your skin moisturized and not greasy.

Do you only treat pregnant patients and patients who have recently given birth?

At Bump I love treating everyone! Although I have specialized training in prenatal and postpartum massage, I also see a variety of other patients, including seniors, kids, and everyone in between! In fact, many patients love what I do so much that I end up seeing their partners too!

Are these treatments covered under my insurance benefits?

This will depend on your benefits coverage, however most patients with extended health care benefits have coverage for massage therapy as well as osteopathy.

Do you offer direct billing?

Yes! For massage therapy treatments we offer direct billing when available. Manual osteopathic therapy is not currently available to be direct billed, however it is covered under the osteopathy designation of your benefit plan, when applicable.
